Founder of Acne Studios Jonny Johansson has stated much of his inspiration comes from furniture design especially Swedish design whilst also being inspired by the work of Andy Warhol. On one hand it seemed fitting to pair one of the biggest Swedish fashion houses with the biggest Swedish furniture designer Ikea and on the other use Warhol’s film “Flesh” to combine the minimalist styling of Swedish interior design with nudity and colour palettes featured in Warhol’s work. My overall aim of this project was to create ‘homewear’. I aimed to emulate the pop art ethos and bring a sense of commodification and commerciality to this project. Each look is based on classic Ikea pieces and the line up follows an Ikea store layout. This project features quilting, pleating and creating checks to represent iconic Ikea items in an attempt to pay playful homage to this homeware giant. The portfolio pages emulate the iconic Ikea catalogue.
